Viva Tostados!
A while ago I received a takeout menu in my mail from a place called Viva Burrito and I thought it would definitely be a place I'd like to try, but it's a further away than I want to walk so I haven't been. Well now that my takeout lunch options are limited, I pulled out the menu. I knew that a mexican restaurant must have corn tortillas right? YES! Despite the almost 100 degree weather, I made the long (not really) trek over to 66 Staniford Street to order up a grilled chicken tostado with black beans. It was worth it, spicy and delicious and gluten-free. Their menu mostly consists of flour wrapped burritos, fajitas, quesadillas and so forth but they also offer corn tortilla tostados as well as traditional tacos. I will definitely be visiting them again next time I'm ordering out for lunch. I try very hard to stock up on groceries and avoid ordering out but sometimes it's just necessary. It's funny, I don't go shopping because I don't have a lot of money but then I always end up ordering out because I don't want to eat the mish-mash of leftovers that I've brought. I need to get into the habit of just spending the money on the good stuff! I'm learning the lessons, slowly but surely.I also found the Gluten Free Checklist the other day. I have the grocery guide but this website is even better for finding mainstream gluten free products. More on that tomorrow!
