Betty Crocker Gluten Free Baking Mixes!!!

Yesterday I received all four of the new Betty Crocker Gluten Free baking mixes. Tonight I cannot wait to try the brownies!! The instructions on the box use butter, but on the website they give you alternatives if you are dairy free. I also am giving away a prize pack of these goodies to one lucky reader!! Check it out:

The prize pack includes 1 box of each of the 4 mixes, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, devil's food cake, or yellow cake. Also included you get that snazzy re-usable shopping bag, TWO coupons, each for a free mix, they're good until 2010, and my personal favorite - a magnetic notepad for grocery lists, and a pen!

All you need to do to enter the drawing is leave a comment on this post telling me which mix you want to try the most. The winner will be chosen randomly next Monday, make sure you leave a way for me to contact you so I can find out where to have your prize pack shipped!

Also - I'm looking for a good dairy free frosting recipe for those cakes if anyone has any links/recipes/ideas!!

i live in new orleans and unfortunately it is so hard to find mainstream gluten- OR dairy-free products (especially ready-to-make!) except in specialty stores, so i haven't been able to find these mixes anywhere! i always crave cupcakes (but rarely get to enjoy them) - so i would love to use the yellow cake mix for cupcakes - and save time to allow for experimenting with frosting options! The Art of Gluten Free Baking blog (www.theartofglutenfreebaking.com) has some options on the "Cakes" link (meringue, fondant, 7 minute icing) that are all gluten/dairy-free. have you ever tried making buttercream with soy (this one looks good:http://www.chow.com/recipes/10856)?
thanks!

I'm going for the yellow cake mix. Or maybe I'd mix the devil's food and yellow to make marble cakes! Yum!

Frosting is easy. You can mix confectioner's (powdered) sugar with any liquid to make frosting. I've done it with lemon juice for a lemon glaze, and fruit juice on berry muffins. My most recent one was powdered sugar mixed with processed watermelon, yum! Just be creative, and use smaller amounts of liquid than you think you need, the sugar soaks it up fast.

I would love to try the yellow cake! I haven't had a good pineapple upside-down cake in ages!

I can't wait to try the Devil's Food Cake. I had to make a "normal" Devil's food cake for a dinner party and just sit there and watch everyone enjoy, now it's my turn. YUMMY!

I've tried the yellow cake and the brownies. They both turned out soso good.

I'm loving punk'n blossom's idea for a pineapple upside down cake!

Also, I've never been able to get a frosting recipe from scratch that I love. When you get one you like, post it!

Too darn cool Jenny!!! My folks made the brownie mix for me over the 4th of July weekend and it was AMAZING. Really, the best GF brownies out there.

I'd love to try all four varieties, but since I'm such a chocolate lover, it'd have to be the chocolate cake. Yum!

The Betty Crocker GF chocolate chip cookies sound so delicious. I hope they taste like the homemade I use to have when I grew up. Lori

I just found your blog and am so glad your information is out here for me. I have EE and am starting a gluten-free, vegan diet. This is exciting that there is something like this being made. I will cross my fingers and hope for the chocolate chip cookie mix. How fun!

But really I'm just so excited to have found your blog as a resource for me to learn;)

Thanks for the offer Jen! The Chocolate Chip Cookie mix sounds good to me. My mom always had a Betty Crocker mix available at home when I was young. Now that I am on a Gluten Free diet, it is nice to know I can add Betty Crocker on my list for a delicious treat.

I haven't tried any of the mixes yet so I am looking forward to making them all, especially the yellow cake mix. :)

I love your site, I found it searching for recipes to share with my mother and brother who are celiac and adhere to a gf diet. I am also searching for fun recipes to have at hand as my 12 year old daughter may need to eliminate gluten in the near future as well. I think they would all enjoy the chocolate chip cookies-good homemade tasting ones are hard to come by!
